Our Righteous Life

During the past weeks we have read a lot on Justin Assange and WikiLeaks. The creator of the news site has been labeled and sticky-labeled for his right to demand governments’ transparency and Freedom of Speech.

At the forums I read the honest righteous voicing their disgust on the crime committed by Justin. On face to face conversations the same disgusting aptitudes towards the man who has become the target of the US government and its devoted soldiers.

Not only in US, in Australia, Europe, humble South Americans display their disgust for the Crime committed.

It is easy to read and return to our normal lives and forget about what Justin Assange is, leave him to rot in jail for being a rapist and for stealing or receiving stolen goods. That easy it is to conveniently forget. (By the way, the charges for rape were dropped for second time.)

Personally I committed crimes in my past, now I stop and think, is it the right thing to do? What’s the benefit? Who for? I am blessed I was not arrested nor convicted of any crimes committed in my past but now I sit and reflect that all those righteous like me have also fell under the Crime spell at least once in their lives. Let’s see the few real scenarios I came across lately.

COPYRIGHTS – BREACHED BY REQUEST, DO IT OR ELSE
A medium size company managed by a well prestige married manager. His wife needed lots of favors to help her with her advanced studies. She could not afford the photocopying fees charged by her UNI library, she asked her husband to do it for her.

Husband arrived to work with his book under his arm and passed it to his secretary, I call them Secret-aries their role is to keep secrets, the secretary received the book with the instructions to photocopy the whole book, front to end.

The secretary did not know the breach of the Copyrights Act and performed the requested “favor”. She or he were following orders from their manager. The deed was done and delivered to the happy academic wife.

Meanwhile the secretary committed a crime and the husband was accessory to the crime. Of course to their high standards that crime was insignificant and they did not had to dirty their hands, it was delegated to others. By the way, the secretary was caught by a visitor to the company on a different business but this visitor made sure the secretary was punished for the crime committed. 

COMPANY OR GOVERNMENT ENTERTAINMENT ALLOWANCE – Scenario #2
As a former financial reporter I am familiar with this particular allowance and turned down many claims as they did not fall under the purpose of this privilege.

Company entertainment allowance is for the purpose to entertain clients or for business purposes only. Of course it could be flexible at high management or superiors’ discretion.

The person in receipt of this entertainment allowance receives a salary to cover for “his or her” personal entertainment, it would be an infringement if this type of allowance is used for personal use and if it is, then it must be reimbursed to the company. Lots of colored paper work to sign when personnel receives this allowance especially with medium-large companies.

The story goes like this:
Company allocated Entertainment Allowance to a manager for business purposes only. The person hardly had any business uses for the grant so this person decided to take family out for dinner regularly. Of course it was a big deal among the family doing this. It saved the food kitty and less kitchen work.

Our righteous manager and family think it is correct to enjoy this allowance they conveniently oversee the crime committed. If these payments go through the auditor the money will have to be reimbursed, if the righteous manager refuses to pay because everybody does it then, the case will go to court and the judge will dictate “crime” committed because it means the manager was stealing from the company. They cannot see their crime yet but they can see that Justin Assange has committed a “crime”.

TOO YOUNG TO KNOW – JUST HAVING A BIT OF FUN – Scenario #3
Usually university students help themselves by working within the hospitality industry. The hours are suitable to fit their studies. Although the money helps a little, any way to enjoy “best” is “honest”.

Usually these outlets have concessions with their employees and gift them one item per shift, I mean one item… it could be a meal + a drink, it could be an alcoholic drink from the “low shelf” (low to regular priced) and with the juices it is a 375-600ml drinks. Imported drinks are costly therefore they are not employee entitlements.

Temptation is enormous while working in food, alcohol or non-alcoholic outlets. The stocks are there for the taking, who is going to notice? The accountants and auditors usually do, I was one of those to notice the tabs did not match with the stock in reserve.

Young person in this scenario, worked late, cleared tables and as the shift ended early morning hours, the youngster took the allotted gift but not from the low shelf, it was from the very high shelf, aiming for the imported goods. 

Working in accounts we do pay attention whether the item is quality or not, we check numbers in this case dollars as revenue, dollars have to come in not the other way around.

But this uni kid is religious, honest hard worker and loves enjoying the best at expense of the company. Of course in their minds there was no crime committed and this particular kid is pretty good pointing the finger at who is not honest. What was the name of the fun? It was stealing imported goods and revenue.

ETHNIC HONESTY – Scenario #4
We had in Australia a major situation with immigration. Boat people are desperate for better lives they are in desperate need to survive. Also there are many in refugees’ camps at 3rd world countries hoping to be relocated to a better heaven, as there are many who live in 3rd countries and can afford to go through the normal procedures to obtain their residence and travel without having to live in camps nor to be hoping where the next charity will arrive to feed them rice and water to keep surviving.

Due to scarcity many people leave their countries in herds towards their borders, usually these come from countries like Burma, Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Vietnam, Laos etc etc. I am more familiar with the Burmese who left their country running away from the heartless junta, they traveled towards the borders becoming drug mules. These drug mules also wanted the same as the righteous seeking residence to developed countries but the drug mules were not smart enough to think in the consequences, they did not have the means to find “better ways” to migrate.

Let’s talk about the ones who can afford to move into their new heavens and strengthen their almighty principles looking down to others in less fortunate situations.

These type of people always do things the “right way”, they are loving, caring and compassionate. Like with the copyrights case, these people are honest they simply delegate to others who are to “handle” their needs. Drug mules at the Thailand border are initiated by these honest people because the new drug mule is in need to survive and is desperate to find a quick way to improve his or her life. Many drug mules were easily coerced and intimidated, many did not know they were getting into crimes.

Our righteous ethnics of this story have the financial means to induce the staff who will handle their migration paperwork, this little contribution to the staff will guide them on what to do, where to live, what to say once called to the embassy that will interview before granting them the “humane right” to be relocated to their chosen heaven.

Also they can afford to obtain false documentation and or with artificial names to facilitate the easy processing of their humanitarian visas.

And while waiting they can afford to live at the local accommodation (hotels) and turn up to the interviews when they would be called. All of these processes are “honest” in their minds and will make their transition into their new country, quick and easy.

For example, they arrive into Heavenly Australia, nobody can identify them and they make sure nobody knows how they turned up here. They keep practicing their Asian customs such as; once a person is arrested for illegalities it brings dishonor to the family and friends. Because they “always” practice the “right thing” such as; bribing whomever, falsifying, telling untruth, etc etc.

They got their visa and are safe to stay in a better country pointing the finger at the “criminal”
Then I ask myself, who is worse criminal here?
The “honest liar and corrupted” or
The one harebrained who is doing time in jail?

Somewhere it reads…
“throw the first stone if you are free from sin…”
are you my dear righteous reader free from sin?

A soldier must follow orders and kill the innocent following orders from his superior. A soldier is trained to believe he is doing it for his country and that he is doing good to humanity.

A Crime is a Crime in a court of law, whether it is minor or major it is crime.
Stealing a soft drink, photocopying a “book”, stealing an idea are all crimes.
To kill a person is a crime.

To kill a human being is a crime, whether is ordered by someone else it makes no difference the person doing the killing is a criminal.

There are times people step into crime after balancing their values in order to stop injustices. We see the protests all over the world and many of those activists end up in court. They are responsible people who step forward with courage asking and screaming that human lives have value and should not be spent. These are people who value honesty, freedom and justice, they have a true reason to step into crimes as per the local laws.  They step into crime after failing to get through the authorities and/or governments.

My final point is that: I want to know where my taxes go, I want to know my taxes are used to create good not to send our kids to be exterminated like cheap carnage. 

Let your conscience guide you, be honest with yourself first before labeling other human beings, stop doing politics in your living room, step up with courage to protect your freedom.
